TLC to begin discussion of a new book, Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man Who Would Cure the World by Tracy Kidder, 2003. on November 8. This non-fiction, biographical work traces the life of physician and anthropologist Paul Farmer with particular focus on his work fighting tuberculosis in Haiti, Peru and Russia. In this powerful, inspiring, true story of a gifted man who is in love with the world and has set out to do all he can to cure it, Kidder shows how one person can make a difference. Farmer is the founder of the Boston based Partners in Health, a global health organization relentlessly committed to improving the health of poor and marginalized people.
